The Long Island Expressway (Interstate 495 - commonly known as the "LIE") is the island's only east-west interstate highway, making it among the most important and congested highways in the NYC metro area. It links midtown Manhattan with eastern Suffolk County.

  • I'm from the midwest, but have to travel Long Island quite a few times a year for work and it's difficult to explain to friends and family back home just how large of an Island this is...sometimes it can be a pain to simply travel 5 miles, especially during tourist season. I headed back there tomorrow...but am cheating and taking the Cross Sound Ferry from CT!...so much less stressful!

  • how fast were you going? looks pretty slow lol

  • @roadwaywiz does that include the city of New York?

  • @roadwaywiz amazing. on that small island?

  • I remember going to Splish Splash using this expressway.
