A great vacation can become even greater if you bring along the right books.
To complete this How-To you will need:
A library card
A computer with internet access
An e-reader
An MP3 player
Reading glasses (optional)
Step 1: Search the internet for summer reading
Search library and bookseller web sites -- most offer summer reading lists in different genres.
Step 2: Find easy reading
Find something easy and pleasurable to read. Vacations are for fun -- not work
Step 3: Find out what bloggers are saying
Once you identify a few different titles, search to learn what bloggers are saying about them.
Step 4: Make sure it's available in paperback
When you find a book you're interested in purchasing, make sure it is available in paperback. Paperbacks are smaller, lighter, and easier to read when lounging in a lounge chair.
Tip: Don't forget your reading glasses.
Step 5: Look for books in e-books or MP3 players
Consider books that might work well in e-book readers or MP3 players -- they're portable and easy to travel with. Most library memberships offer them for free.

This year, I found a bookstore that sells great books for 80% off the cover price. Over the summer, I was there every weekend, and could buy a giant bag of books for under $20. It'll take me forever to read them all. So when I travel, I bring books that I'm not currently reading, and one or two staple books, to keep things exciting. And I always have two different books in my purse in case I ever have to wait somewhere for a long time.
