It's not a "quenouille" ...
this is called "fusaïole" (fu-sa-yo-le) in frenh .
the "quenouille" ( ditaff ) is a stem with or without branches, and it makes possible to store wool or flax which the spindler will spin on the spindle or the spinning wheel.

Yes, you're right of course! We finally figured that out!
What happened was, the original seller called it a "quenouille", which literally is a cattail plant which looks like it could be a spindle. Check out the new video, with the right name. I bought a *distaff* from an English-speaker in Serbia who called it a *spindle*.
