I don't know if this is the original version but i think this is the best version that i heard so far in spite of my respect for the version by the Righteous Brothers and i cannot understand why this beautiful version was never released the year when the song was conceived and never after that. Perry Como sang that song in 1955, the same year as Al Hibbler did a version of his own and have a big hit with it.

  • Thank you, this is beautiful

  • It was for a 1955 movie entitled "Unchained" and it was sung by Todd Duncan. Perry recorded it in 1955 also. The Righteous Brothers didn't record it until 1965.

I like Perry's version of ANYTHING better. He was the best.

  • Maybe THE best version...what a GREAT baritone Perry was! The great popular singer/balladeers: 1) Frank, 2) Nat 3) Matt Monro/Perry Como...all were naturals who also worked hard to do songs right.

  • LINDO SIMPLISMENTE LINDO...

  • Love this version, but try John Gary's version. It is unbelievable! Both are great singers sadly missed.

  • My mother loved Perry Como, I didn't know that I love him as well. Listening to him makes me happy.

  • this is an example of real music by a real singer, unlike the garbage today.thank you

  • This is a beautiful song--every version I've heard is wonderful. The Al Hibbler, Roy Hamilton and Perry Como versions from 1955 are very different than the later version sung by The Righteous Brothers. Johnny Maestro ("16 Candles") also recorded this and sang it in the same style as Bobby Hatfield, as a tribute to Hatfield. ♫♥♫

  • This is a wonderful version of "Unchained Melody", especially if you turn the volume up. Another great version was by The Platters. Written by Hy Zarat, and music composed by Alex North.

  • Who made this song?
