How can you visually tell the difference between a pastured egg (chicken raised on a pasture rotation with grain supplement) and a Cage-free, all natural egg not raised on sunlight and fresh pasture?
Sally Fallon - Weston A. Price Foundation, says you can tell by the integrity of the yolk and the white, how the egg holds together.
I test her thesis.

  • Thanks! Id like to do it again in the spring when you can really see the difference in the yolks. The difference is huge.

  • The difference is really how long the egg has been stored. Not where it comes from. Repeat the experiment with two eggs that have been picked at the same time and you will see no difference.

This video really tells how fresh the egg is.

  • It's crazy I used to not like eggs all that much but now I have my own chickens at home...BEST most flavorful buttery tasting nutritious delicious bright orange eggs ever! U haven't tried an egg till you've tried a truly fresh pastured egg. :)

  • egglands best cage free organic is good in a pinch or during winter. I get most of my eggs from polyface

  • the difference you see probably has to do with age. eggs from the grocery store are usually much older than those purchased directly from a farm. the fresher egg the tighter the white will be. you could also compare them by placing them in water. the older the egg the more the large end of the egg will float. a fresh egg will lie flat under water.

  • Amazing!

  • I'm glad you posted this, been trying to explain the integrity thing to people and they don't believe it because they are so used to watery eggs. Now I can link this video!

  • I mean the egg from the store are still alive if u bought them?

  • HI can I use the egg from the store to turn it back into a dinosaur? does the chicken can grow a long dinosaur tail? the chicken eggs from the store are still live just wondering?

  • Wow thanks.
