  • @redskins1111 He said that he didn't pass the bill because he would rather children pay less for milk than increase profits for farmers. Take or leave the answer, but he did answer the question.

  • @redskins1111 Excuse me... What? Not answered the question? He clearly explained that his intentions are to provide for those who needed the most: children in poverty, in this case, even at the expense of the income of some of his constituents. He said the answer twice... TWICE. 1 in 5 are living for the first time in poverty and they are children. He talked about the code of humanity providing for those in need.

But if you didn't hear the answer... you really need God's blessings.

  • This was to explain how a unknown like Bartlet could beat the well-known and well-financed Hoynes for the Democratic nomination. Hoynes wouldn't give straight answers, Bartlet never ducked a tough question. Hoynes ran a Dewey-like campaign and spoke only in platitudes. Bartlet took specific positions . We never saw it, but I'm sure Bartlet tore Hoynes up in their primary debates.

  • yes! oh why can't jed bartlett be real so we can vote him into office?!?

  • @gtrmagic Nope. He has a big albatross around his neck named Charlie.

  • @beautifullion69 yes. that's the end of the second part of this episode

  • "If fidelity to freedom and democracy is the code of our civic religion, then surely the code of our humanity is faithful service to that unwritten commandment that says 'we shall give our children BETTER than we ourselves receive.'" Call me a bleeding heart liberal but that quote right there is one of the main reasons The West Wing is one of the best shows ever made. I don't know if Aaron Sorkin "borrowed" that from someone, but it is incredible.

  • @redskins1111 well he kinda did... just saying. He explained his reasons for his actions.

  • typical liberal president; not answering the question and not even saying God Bless America....

  • Was this the ep where the president catches up w/ josh at the airport?
