I take it you're under 30? It was a shortlived craze on the terraces in the late eighties. It started at Man City as they had a player called Imre Varadi (Imre Banana!?)and it soon spread across the country. After a bit, the choice of inflatables diversified. Folk even brought blow up sheep and women to the matches! Grimsby had inflatable haddocks, West Ham had inflatable hammers. Then clubs started banning them and then the craze died off. We've still got a giant banana up the attic!
