Secondly, as regards cancer, the only area of real difference lies in prostate cancer. American doctors use the PSA blood test more frequently, revealing prostate cancer in elderly patients who would NOT be killed by it far more often. This drives up the discovery rate statistically, but does not actually change the amount of people treated for life threatening cancer and cured.

As for heart disease and attacks, there is a 2% difference, with both minor and chronic conditions lumped in.

The fact that we have true, free universal health care that costs us less of our GDP that ranks Higher than the US system? Is it perfect? no, nothing is, but it proves that only can universal healthcare compete, it can actually beat out the private system in many areas. America is a wealthy nation, even with the now ended recession taken into account, it can become a near utopia, with the right decisions.
