The U.S./Mexican border is one of the world's best laboratories for learning the effects of globalization. As a global community it is our responsibility to understand the relationships between developed and developing countries. Moving into a 21st century of global trade, global travel, and global communication, we are all personally connected to the world's population. The clothes we wear, the food we eat, and the air we breathe connect us with individuals around the world; a majority of whom live in poverty and do not earn enough money to support their families.
Undocumented immigration is merely one of the aforementioned effects of globalization. Along the U.S./Mexican border since 1994 the number of deaths in the Southern Arizona desert has continued to increase until in the summer of 2005 it reached a record high. Many of these deaths occurred from dehydration.
The larger context behind our country's undocumented population shows that trade policies and economic sanctions do not allow people to stay on their land. Two years following the signature of NAFTA in 1994 over 1 million Mexican farmers were displaced because of U.S. cheap corn. As we move into a global world it is vitally important that we take on global responsibility. This film deals specifically with border crossing and the people who cross. It is through their stories that we can gain a greater understanding.
You're just a racist idiot.

DEFINITION OF A WETBACK.!!
1. an illegal immigrant.
2. a criminal.
3. an individual criminally pretending to be a citizen of a nation for economic gain and/or political subterfuge in said nation, and lacks loyalty to said nation.
4. a selfish and/or cowardly person unwilling to positively change the socio-economic and political problems in his/her own country in order to benefit everyone, including him/herself, and thus runs away to another country to hide.

Liberals who support illegal immigrants are actually - unknowingly - siding with greedy U.S. corporations. Why? Because they (ie. liberals) are protecting corporations profit rich, cheap labor workers.
WHO WINS? Greedy companies AND illegal workers (earning FAR more than in Mexico).
WHO LOSES? The U.S. labor class (U.S. proletariat) via job losses to illegal workers & depressed wages.
Thus 120 years of American wage struggles fought since the Haymarket Rebellion of 1886 are being undermined.

and you cold hearted conservatives care about no one but yourselves. no one else in the world matters. thats the kind of thinking that makes the world hate you! i hope one day you and your children experience something like this so you know what it's like to suffer, maybe then you'll think twice before you say your glad thousands of children died in the desert.

Yes, by all means -- throw open the borders. Let anyone who wants to come into the US, cross any border -- land, sea or air. As long as they can benefit from our resources, we'd be heartless to exclude them. Give them access to our healthcare system, have our police and fire departments look after them, displace US citizen renters to give them places to live. Let's all become the world's providers, even though it will drive those of us who were born here into poverty.

Bleeding heart liberals. I ask you, why does the burritto in the beginning of the video have 3 children? If he can not afford them? So he will come to America and make 3 more... and he will then leach from our entitlement programs. I'm glad the border is a "gauntlet of death", because if it was not... there would be no more America.
