  • Fantastic video. I'd love to learn more about the Dome and what it's used for now, considering it's current state of disrepair.

  • I believe that the Dome is going to be taken down, shipped north and reassembled in a museum-like setting somewhere. Or so was the rumor I heard.

    So it's not so much in a state of disrepair as it is just in the process of finished its time at the south pole.

  • Ahh understood. I must have it mixed up with the original US Navy installation from the 50s and 60s.

  • Yes, that's different from the dome, they call it 'old pole' and is now buried under several feet of snow. You're not supposed to walk out there as there's the chance you might fall down into it, break a leg or some such.
