Not to be confused with English muffins, Scotch pancakes, pikelets, teacakes or any other breadlike baked product. The true English crumpet is typically flat and round, covered in pore like holes, soft and spongy, and utterly tasteless without being lightly cooked in a toaster or under the grill and topped.
Crumpets can be both sweet or savoury and can be topped with butter, margarine, honey, jam, marmalade, chocolate spread, peanut butter, cheese spread, melted cheese, golden syrup, lemon curd, marmite, a poached egg, or whatever takes your fancy! Crumpets can even have tomato pureé, cheese and extra toppings added to make mini-pizzas - simply toast the crumpets in a grill, add the topping, grill for an extra minute or two to crisp. Then enjoy! =]
A typical plain crumpet (~50g) contains less than 1% fat and approx 90 calories making them a suitable breakfast or snack for those dieting. Additional toppings will have varied nutritional values.
Everyone loves a bit of British crumpet! ;^)

What is the name of the music?
wjmortician 4 weeks ago
@wjmortician It's from Elgar's (composer) "Pomp & Circumstance - Land of Hope and Glory"
MarcusBritish 4 weeks ago
@MarcusBritish Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. I had this music confused with the Theme from Aida.
wjmortician 4 weeks ago
@wjmortician Ah, no definitely not Aida – the Triumphal March in Aida is beautiful though, per se, if it's Verdi's opera you were thinking of.
