Katherine Poulin- Neff aboard Brilliant Too treated the crowd to a marvelous Intermediare Freestyle at the 2006 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF National Intermedaire I Dressage Championship in June, 2006. Poulin-Neff is from Newbury Ohio. Brilliant Too is a Dutch Warmblood/ Thoroughbred cross, owned by Sharon Poulin. They're a small package, and a great presence. This team took Reserve Champion at the competition; second place. As B-Too is only 9 years old, you can expect to see this team competing well into the future.

  • Looks like Kate and Brilliant Too will be coming back to Gladstone in June to compete in the Pan Am Games selection trials, and the 2007 Intermediare Championship! The competition looks tough. Wish them a good ride!

  • Brilliant Too is a small horse, and so his gaits do come across as quick in the video, and especially when compared to the 18 hand Lex Barker. The judges couldn't have found two 'more different' horses to score! Poulin-Neff's ride shows a remarkable steadiness in the bridle, the horse is clearly attentive, swinging tail, ears focused on Katie and minimal use of the curb. I don't see the tenseness or stiffness: the key for me is in that great walk and the changes on the circle!

  • I love this ride! Great music, matched to this horse. Interesting choreograpy. Kate is a wonderful rider; just watch how quietly and effectively she uses her aids in this test. Brilliant Too is little, but you can see he has a big heart. This is going to be a favorite of mine for a long time!

  • The choreography is very interesting as you say. Lovely combination, but and there is a but, maybe it's the quality of the video on my computer, but the horse appears a little tense and stiff through the poll and back, I like the winning horse as he was more supple.
