The Diagonal Stride is the oldest and most well known Cross Country Skiing Technic, but today there´s almost every race a discussion whether to go with or without wax, just double poling. Is the Diagonal Stride a dying technic?

  • @kuan12345 wrong my friend. It is relevant to almost all skiers. It just that few know that it is. I've taught xc for almost 30 years. It is amazing to see the transformation of a strider that never learned good technique (most skiers) to someone who learns to employ double pole and kick double pole in appropriate places. Their grins of delight say it all.

  • Agreed, Kuan. Good footage though, makes me happy to see we're close to solstice when the days start getting shorter and the march to ski season approaches. Gotta get out on roller skis sometime soon to work on all techniques including balance !

  • Totally irrelevant to anyone except .0000001% of skiers.

  • let me give you the key to winning races like cross country skiing..all for free.

the way to win is not to focus solely on diagonal stride or double poling.the way to win is to find the absolute optimized ratio of each technique on each course for each athlete to give the best overall performance.its working smarter not harder.

you have to analyze the course from the perspective of each skier and lay a battle plan for where to use what in relation to competitors and then sticking to it out there

  • omg. that song is amazing. and good job on the research . its really interesting to see

  • no, it's not dying.
