About 400 students participated in the Gilder-Lehrman Junior Historian's Forum held last month at Marquette University. The students, from Hamilton, Riverside, Wedgewood Park, Humboldt Park, Victory, US Grant, and Fritsche schools,
listened to noted historian John Fea talk about being a kid in colonial America, which wasn't always fun.
The Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History is an MPS partner in implementation of the U.S. Department of Education's Teaching American History grant. The grant is designed to raise student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge and understanding of and appreciation for traditional U.S. history.
