It looks like another one has flown into my life. I believe it was about 7 or 8 years ago my late friend Fred bought this car at a automobile flea market with yours truly in mind. Sigh. No way I said, there were enough cars in my life. But Fred persisted, and together we got the car fixed, I helped sort out a few mechanical things so the car could run, but it was Fred's talents that got the car looking nice. It was very solid before the endeavor, but sun faded, and the upholstery was threadbare in spots, as the car was from the States earlier in its life, I suspect the South due to the fact there is no rear window defrost, and the only options are air conditioning, stereo and a tilt steering column. The family and especially Fred's widow, really felt the car had my name written all over it. Sigh. With honor, it looks like the little SX4 will be gracing car shows, under my name, but the honor goes to Fred for sure. Thank you very much dear friend. I had said my Vista Cruiser was Fred's last project on an old car, but really, now that I remember, this Eagle really was, it was painted after the wagon was. Especially why now this car must be kept with a true AMC lover. Engine: 258 CID, 3-speed automatic transmission, New Process 129 transfer case. Future plans will include at least a 2-speed New Process 219 or 229 transfer case, keeping the outside stock looking, but maybe, if plans and funds allow, a 4-liter fuel injected Jeep engine.
