This song was one of the suggestions for The Ocarina Network's TV Challenge (Feb 2009), and I ended up recording it in advance.

I used the prototype Panch B-flat ocarina ^^
(note, its a prototype ocarina, so it still has a few shortcomings).

Panch tells me that his final products will be flawless ^^ (he's still improving them)

  • how would I go about transposing the backtrack to fit the Focalink SG? I'm looking for a high pitched ocarina to go with a lower pitched backtrack. I wonder how it would sound?

When I put the backtrack into my audio editor, Audacity, It said the backtrack was in the key of E (it goes by the first note in the song), but I think it's F.

Would I transpose it to the key of D or D flat? Since you are using a B flat ocarina, I would change the pitch to D because it is a perfect 5th?

  • If you have a midi backtrack, I would *not* advise using Audacity to change the pitch.

Use a midi program like Van Basco's Karaoke Player (free program, search on Google) to take the backtrack midi's key up and down until you get where you want (hint: AC to SG is usually +7 I think).

  • do you know panch? cause i know you both live in Australia adn you have one of his ocarinas

  • yes, he's my friend ^^

  • magnificent job my friend :)

  • thank you ^^

  • Wow wow wow!

  • I love this song. It's gorgeous!

  • does anyone here knows where 2 find tabs for this one?

  • i want a panch ocarina! i wish he would open up shop!!!

  • I have found Audacity to be really good for transposing MP3s, such as your Canon Rock which I lowered by a Perfect fifth (-7) so I could easily learn it on my Double AC.

It guessed you were playing in D and so I lowered it to G (-7, a perfect fifth).

For MIDI editing I use Jazz++, and for MIDI playing I use SynthFont. Jazz++ cannot really be found anymore as it went "under new management".

Its a lovely Ocarina and I can't wait for Panch to start selling them.
