Neil Young: Down by the River (cover)

This is my acoustic version of a Neil Young classic, completely improvised. Took a few cues from Dave Matthews' version. Again, not the best quality from the mic on my macbook. Depending on the feedback I get I might up the production values :)

Greetings from the states, mate.

I was looking into doing a cover of this song myself with a friend of mine playing lead. I was just doing barred 7th chords though. Very nice soling. What kind of exercises do you practice to get your improv skills working so smooth with your chords like that?

Um I guess it's easier with songs like this where the bass notes are on the open strings, but I've always liked the style of players who can chuck in a few parts at a time so I try to emulate that. I don't really ever practise so I'd probably be a lot better if I did. Hah!

This is an awesome cover...Love the uniqueness of the solos and the additions to the classic neil song...you ever consider either tabbing this or doing a tutorial for fellow guitar players out there? personally i'd love to be able to play neil the way you do in this video
