05 May 2009 - We visited Japan just around children day. Alistair discovered all the koinobori floating in the wind from every house. He even was given a mini koinobori by his aunt Yukiko.
As we were driving to the Airoprt, both my aunts and my mother sang the traditionnal Koinobori song to him. He doesn't seem too pleased on the video but actually loved it (it's just that he looks so bored when concentrated).
Here are lyrics to the song :
屋根より高い鯉幟
大きな真鯉はお父さん
小さな緋鯉は子供たち
面白そうに泳いでる
Yane yori takai koi-nobori
Ōki na magoi wa o-tō-san
Chiisa na higoi wa kodomo-tachi
Omoshirosō ni oyoideru
Higher than the roof-tops are the koinobori
The large Black Carp is the father
The smaller Golden Carp are the children
They seem to be having fun swimming.
