Mahalo's professional makeup artist Katie Gurvin shows you how to apply concealer.

How to Apply Concealer
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Concealer is a type of makeup used to cover up blemishes, dark circles and other skin imperfections. As a rule of thumb, a basic concealer used to cover up skin imperfections should be about one shade lighter than your own natural skin tone, so that you can blend the imperfections, such as a blemish, into the skin. If you don't need full coverage, you want to use light, liquid concealer. For full coverage, it is best to use heavy concealer, which is packed into a pot.

Step 1: Prepare Skin with Primer
---------------------------------------------------------------------

On a clean face, using a soft, fluffy brush, apply the illuminating primer. If you have purple or blue hues underneath your eyes, using a color corrector at this step can be helpful.

Step 2: Apply Concealer
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Using a brush, apply concealer. If you have darker tones on your forehead, mix something a little darker on the edge of your face and mix something lighter for the middle. Mist face. Continue blending. Apply eye base if you have redness on your eyelids. Eye base does not crease throughout the day like concealer does.
