Thank you for the video. My great-grandpa, Emmett Uhls, died in the coal mine. I haven't ever seen pictures of the incident before.

The last survivor of the Centralia Coal Mine No 5 Disaster passed away 2/22/2010. Joseph 'Red' Vancil of DuQuion passed away Saturday afternoon at the age of 83.

This is a wonderful tribute to all the miners that lost their lives in Mine No. 5. My grandfather, Manzie (Dutch) Gregory was the last miner out alive. He was doing his brothers job that day because he was sick so Grandpa was not where he usually would have worked which would have been in the area of the explosion. I did have a book from the hearings where Grandpa gave his testimony but loaned it to a friend and she accidently lost it. I was heartsick. Thank you for posting both your videos.

@54mowens My sister, Joan Gregory, is trying to find a photo of Manzie Gregory with his baseball team for her husband (your cousin) Mike Gregory. Would you happen to know the name/dates of the team he played for? Please advise. fordellcastle@yahoo.com PS Our Grandpa, Warren Hardy, helped rescue many of the men. We lost 7 family members including Buehnes and McGreavey.
