Experience the new Vintage Trolley on the downtown Silver Line. You can hear the volunteer docent giving a history of the vintage trolley. What a great ride!
This type of PCC streetcar hasn't been in service in San Diego since 1949. For more info. - www.sdvintagetrolley.com

  • The PCC was in a way to help transport handicapped passengers. Eventhough back in the days when they ran in regular service, they didn't have wheelchair lifts as you see in this video, but with the short risers in the steps, an operator could assist a handicapped wheelchair bound person onto the streetcar. The seats in the front almost left enough room to park the wheelchair.

  • @Streetcar1743 That's cool that people in wheelchairs can get around on most public transportation these days. I guess it makes it a lot easier for the driver having the wheelchair ramp and certainly easier for those in a wheelchair. There is room behind the driver for 1 wheelchair but it's not usually full so I'm sure they would allow more than 1 if needed. It's great to see this vintage streetcar back in service in San Diego.
