UPDATE: Sesame Workshop, proving just how awesome they really are, have allowed this video to stay. SESAME STREET RULES! ^_^
A classic video, with awesome music. I can't believe YouTube took this down before... well guess what it's BACK! Much kudos to Courtney from Myspace for having the video.

Dear mom, I am giving up school and becoming a crayon maker. Love, your daughter. :)

Definitely one of the ultimate Sesame street classic films! These segments were truly works of art, much better than anything that you'd see on the show today

Not really. This footage was filmed in the late 70s, back when people worked factory jobs but still had enough money to buy a home, support a family, and retire.

i never noticed before just what a contrast the upbeat and interesting music is with the drudgery of these people's lives, doing all this by hand, 8 hours a day

I know. They were all so different from one another, and sort of gritty and real instead of slick and computer-generated like the modern stuff. *sigh*

This episode also doubles as a short about how folks working low paying jobs don't get to retire... ever.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking you couldn't get any better than the 32 variety box. And then, the 64 variety came out and I thought, "No way can they top this!" And then, they came out with the 96 variety box. And I thought, "Okay, now they're just making colors up! Magenta? That's not a color!"
