World Water Day on 22 March is an opportunity to stop and think about the fact that millions go without this precious resource every day and are often forced to drink a dirty substitute—people like Philomene Antione, a young Haitian girl who contracted cholera in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake by drinking contaminated water. She was not alone. The contamination caused the hospitalization of 109,000 people and the deaths of 4000. Here is Philomene's story:
