It has been said that in simplicity lies great beauty, an axiom stunningly validated by the Golden Oriole Katana.
The story told by the stunning tsuba is of a mantis stealthily stalking the cricket, unaware that he is himself being stalked by the Golden Oriole. The deeply lacquered blue of the saya is repeated in the Japanese cotton tsuka-ito, and the Oriole appears again on the kashira. Unmistakably Hanwei quality, the 14" tsuka of the katana gives a superb balance to the sword, allowing it to move very quickly and very freely.

Supplied with a protective cloth bag. This is a sharpened battle ready samurai sword.

The Golden Oriole Japanese swords have a sharpened hand tempered steel blade. Genuine rayskin handle with blue Japanese cottoncord wrap.
Cast metal tsuba has an antique copper finish with brass and gold highlights depicting a mantis stalking a cricket, and he is unaware that he himself is being stalked by the Golden Oriole.

It has a wooden scabbard with blue lacquer finish.

Each piece in the Golden Oriole series has a hand-forged 1065 high-carbon steel blade, differentially tempered using a traditional claying method. Edge hardness is 60HRC, back hardness 40HRC.

Blade Length: 69,21 cm, 27 1/4
Handle Length: 35,56 cm, 13 3/4
Overall Length:107,31 cm, 42 1/4"
Weight:685 gram, 2lb 3oz

  • I am going to get one of the oriole swords. They'r just so goddamn beautiful. And i find it more comfortable with a long tsuka. Great that you put this up. I've been looking for better pictures than the ones at the webstore. ^^
