This video shows my MetroArms 1911's transformation from it's stock form with the blued finish and wood grips, to a more "tacticool" tactical form with an ambi safety, some chrome parts for corrosion resistance, an Alumahyde II coat and some nice grips.

    No, I didn't replace the barrel. I had my gunsmith chrome line it for better wear and corrosion resistance. :)

  • You don't have to sandblast the part before applying Alumahyde?

    Brownells says it isn't necessary. A good sanding will do.

    Of course, if you want to sandblast, why not. :)
