@tarantulaguy1976 I'm very new to owning spiders and trying to get as much info as possible before buying one. Do all species do this? Female eats or kills male during mating? I don't plan to breed spiders but, like I said as much info as possible. :)

@pimpjuice739 Not really, I mean if the male actually gets to mate with the female, and she eats the male, you lose one male, if she gets pregnant (Or gravid), she will get about 200 - 500 eggs (Depending on what species it is, as the L. Parahybana can lay up to 2.000 egs). So you will actually get a bunch more males than the one you lose in the process of mating

Just like real life with humans :D

I have always wanted to know in evolutionary terms what is the advantage of a female T eating a male that is healthy and able to breed. Surely this is bad for the species, taking out a male who has reached maturity is a disadvantage.

i feel bad

I see an inherent flaw with the cliche of not hitting females.

@1992arthurC why would you go ahead and insult someone just like that.. i dont get it.. seems pretty stupid

@1992arthurC Wow you're a dick with low self esteem. You probably act like a dick because you don't have one!

So the main thing that happened here is that FLash and that one other female were mating but Flash died in the process? Sorry, i'm no Arachnid expert
@Killahb89 Actually there is hardly anything to clean up...not messy at all

why dont the males ever eat the females

@connjamm19: It has happened but it's very rare. Generally the females tend to be larger and more aggressive than the males.
