In this video I am making some "perry" or pear cider. Which is really about 1/3 apples. For a very detailed explanation of the pressing technique read this blog article: http://bit.ly/a2ddLE

  • "It takes a hell of a lot of apples" is right. LOL. Very cool press! What variety of wood did you use? Thanks for the video response. I have been getting requests for how to make hard cider and just have not had the time with harvest/putting the garden to sleep w/a cover crop to do a video on it. Now they can hop over here.

    Great job!

  • @TheUnusualFarmchick Just plain jane pine boards. The press tub is cedar but you can use pine. If you do all pine construction this thing can be built very cheaply. This was shot right when i was done, however since I have treated it with linseed oil and then applied polyurethane. This is what I would recommend. Thanks for the comment. I like the harbor freight jack... might have tried to modify it if I saw it first, however I am quite happy with this press

  • Nice set up!

  • 2:01

    Reminds me of Taco Tuesdays.

  • Great channel, great energy and passion. Keep 'em coming!

  • @2bears4321 If you use all pine construction i would say both would cost your around $250 to $300

I purchased the kit which came with all of the white plastic parts you see so mine was more.. I also used cedar for the tub, but I had that on hand.

He sells just the straps for the press tub, i would consider getting just those at a minimum.

  • @daikaiju20 hey man, sorry! I forget to check youtube!! My bad... no these are the kit from his website... if you want to DIY version he suggests cutting strips from a plastic drum

  • That is fricken awesome ! how much cash do you have into building that ?

  • Nick straps holding pressing bucket together are pipe straps for pluming pipe? thanks for sharing your method!
