This is my 40 gallon bow front terrarium. it have 4 leos, 3 female 1 male. Leopard geckos are desert lizard that live in the desert. they live in the green area (small pacth in the desert) search photos form those desert, and that what i did in my set up. it's have the green area (cool side) and the desert and sandy area (hot side). i know sand it's bad (but only if they eat it) that's why the sand its just a small pool were they like to play and borrow there, far from were they eat, i check there feces or poo poo :) every day to see any trace of sand just in case. i use regular sand the small micron(size) avalible and round sand. if you are going to use sand don't use calci-sand it has calcium or it's made out of calcium, and if the leo need calcium it's goin to eat it and intestin compactation is the results so no no no that not the magic word. Lighting? i use compact uvb ligth just in case they need the b3 (help then matabolise calcium in the body i'm not 100% sure) and make the terrarium look good, and moon ligth, that's a must have! they are little LED ligth that simulate the moon.( in my next video i'm going to show you how to make one) belive me you are going to see what you've been missing, don't use the blue night light or the red ligth (#1, you dont see nothing,#2 i heard from other leo owners that their geckos become blind),and #3 it does not look natural (have you ever see the moon red or blue). heat? i use heating tape under the clay in the desert area. well that's it, if you have any questions or comments they are welcome.
ahhhhhh wait wait plants. plants are live air plant or bromelias they are safe for leo so far but check before using bye
