I joined the Coast Guard in 1980 at 23 yrs. old. My first unit was an 82 footer. The first time I ever handaled a weapon was in bootcamp. When I got to my new unit. The skipper an E9 said your on the boarding party, WHAT? They took me out to a swamp and gave me weapons training shotgun and 45. Told me how the boardings were done the rest was OJT. I use to guard the assembled crew on the back of the shrimp boats.
I'm glad they are doing much better training.

Ohh!!.. I remember that freaking crab gear! That was the only portion that was NOT fun. You go to bed really sore! LOL! Yeah. MLE school is intense, but I'm sure it's changed alot since I went.

LMAO!! Thankfully, the coast guard does not carry live ammo. That little idiot is going to hurt innocent people with a live weapon. It is obviously much too powerful for his little hands..

@DBZmusicboy01 well theres different jobs in the coast guard you can join rescue jobs instead of law enforcement
