With a 132" wingspan and powered by four Zenoah
G-23's this great plane crashed, inexplicably, just seconds into its' maiden flight. Built with the small rudders, the torque generated at full power was too much to be corrected by rudders, thus the sharp left turn on takeoff.
Nothing to do with rudder size.
Which know-all came up with that idea?

All this talk of rudders and I cannot see how any rudder was used to try and correct the plane on take-off. I see this happen so often, just punch it and hang on and the rudder is completely forgotten. Sorry to see this beauty go in.

nice airplane, but why in the hell would you continue the takeoff with that big right turn. It wasn't lined up with the runway at all, aborting would have been more prudent. I know, I have a 16' B24 and if they all don't come up together its power off, try again. Sorry for your loss, pretty airplane.

It spun to the right just like on TAKEOFF....
Bad rudder servo? For sure engine failure??
It sounded like they were gassers (Ignitions ect)
