Dr. Peter D'Adamo created the "The Blood Type Diet" which you can find in his book "Eat Right for your Type."

The premise is quite simple: Food has a chemistry. Your stomach has a chemistry. So does your blood.

With that in mind, some foods will react positively and negatively with the chemistry of your body. Dr. Adamo's diet ( http://www.dadamo.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type_diet ) is not so much a diet as a selection of foods.

You choose the foods that will benefit you.

For A blood types (I'm A+, and a new book takes into account the positive and negative) like myself: We are supposed to be vegetarian hobbits.

Cultivator: Little to no meat (no red meat, just poultry), only sprouted wheat bread (ezekiel, essene), no oranges, no milk, no bananas, no tomatoes, no lima beans. The rest can be found on the website.

My advice is that an instructor in a basic training environment (drill sergeant at Basic Combat Training, drill instructor at Marine Corps Boot Camp, same for Navy and Air Force) try out the diet themselves for one cycle, and follow it through the next cycle.

Measure your weight, how well you perform various activities, and your general health and mental state. (Warning: Pineapple will help you loose weight, and apparently make you sit on the toilet, a lot.)

I have followed the diet and maintained an active military exercise regimen, and found no drawbacks (well, my wrists seem to be getting arthritis, but that could be because I'm on the computer so much).

I wish I had known about the diet before going into basic training because I suffered nasal congestion, cough, fever, and other cold/flu-like symptoms for about seven weeks straight. Running every other day barely managed to keep me functionally healthy.

Ultimately, this diet will reduce problems with recovery from injury, general health and mental health, help long term health, and reduce problems with obesity, diabetes, and possibly even cancer.

A blood types suffer more cancer then the other blood types. (Does not take into account smoking.)

I am curious what would happen if the four diets (really, AB blood types could scavenge off of A and B meals) were employed, and more importantly if you made visible who was part of what blood group, and what sort of groupings you would see spring up.

But that could have socialogical consequences.

  • Oh, and Sky! The reason I found your video was because I was researching today's headline news on how bloodtype can affect the risk of strokes etc.... They are letting the "cat outa the bag"?

  • YEAH! I so agree with you! I'm 39 and I've been yo-yo dieting my whole life, have tried EVERY different angle. I started playing around with the "blood type diet" about a year ago, (I'm an A), and I am amazed how it makes me feel! FOr the first time in my life, my "insides" feel like they fit together.... Hard to explain, but it just feels right.

I heard that this is the "secret" diet of the stars, a conspiracy in itself! Shhh!! Don't tell!! ;)

  • @FruitarianSwimster The military needs healthy food!!!.. NO gluten and NO dairy!!..they can scream in your face, but know nothing about nutrition!!!!

  • Of course D'Adamo would say exercise more vigorously for type O's, to burn all the meat off... Cmon, use your commonsense people!

  • BTW, you will get fitter by being physically active, not following this diet. Of course you wouldn't be able to be as athletic with all the weight you are carrying.

  • Ummm... Cows all eat grass and have more varieties of blood types than humans. Monkeys all eat bananas and also have a variety of blood types.

Nature designed us humans to thrive, to eat fruits, not follow a list of foods a corrupt salesman who advertizes makes for us.

People lose weight on this diet because it supports foods with minimal processing, it does not have chocolate cake or cheetos on any of its content. The only way this would benefit is eating no junkfood.

  • PhD chemist ..wow! that means that he knows everything in the entire universe,,, WOWZERS!! im going to trust your information then for sure.

but how bout this.. my allergies and ill health are cured... ive lost lots of weight and feel great.. im type ZERO and i eat what iam suppose to eat,, ask your PhD asspiece about that mate

  • @skyanimal My friend is a PhD chemist and says it is pure baloney.

  • I'm type A+, in military. I'm also a glutton. Additionally I'm damn good with PT, running, and such...when I first started out it was rough, and basic has no time for diets let alone proper exercise and rest routine. I had to work my ass into the ground to get lean and tone not just skinny, I've always been skinny. Basketball might be the only sport I have trouble breathing (INDOORS THOUGH) I am a BIG meat eater, I eat a certain way to my liking...so all I can say is it's psychological IMO.
