Well, you don't need all this fancy stuff for a basic reballing. You can do it completely by hand, it's just a lot harder.

I must say, If you guys at Intel honestly think it would be better to do away with sockets for enhanced speed or other reasons, I trust you but just realllly think about it, because sockets and customizability is one of the reasons we love you!

If you do this as a side job or hobby, have you really invested in all this material and equipment? Sounds EXPENSIVE. But I could see where it would be cool to salvage otherwise junked boards.
