Capturing the spirit of the tour undertaken by the Baha'i Gospel Choir, Live in Amsterdam is both spiritual and lively. Led by Van Gilmer, this diverse group of individuals gave a total of 9 performances throughout Europe. Lacking the proper requirements for recording a concert, yet wanting to capture the performances for their historical records, Live in Amsterdam was recorded live using only two microphones. "While it may not include the mastery of studio doctoring, it does capture much of the spirit of the tour and this particular concert. Mysteriously, the songs in each concert took a course of their own. We sang practically the same songs each time but the presentation was mostly based on the feelings and receptivity of the audiences...Before we started this tour, we were told that the people of Europe would not respond to our music as we might have been accustomed. They would warmly applaud, but we should NOT expect them to stand, or clap, or rock, or show their emotions. From our opening concert in London and througout the tour, just the opposite happened..."
Thrilling, uplifting.
