Showbread vs. Southern Baptists

in 2002 a SCAD student named Chris Breeding made a brief student film loosely documenting Showbread's expulsion from their Southern Baptist church.

I recently dug it up and thought it was pretty funny, so here it is.

No offense to Southern Baptists...

I dont like how he said "their style of music, i dont think it would hold up to Gods standards." stuff like that makes people turn from God, and not want to get to know Him.

@CrazyCaucasian1337 Now where in the Bible does it say that? as long as the lyrics are true and full of praise to God, it shouldnt matter if they are heavy or not. I'm in a metalcore band and i love christ with all my heart so dont you say im doing the work of the devil

that is not true i play in a christian core band and we all love god just cause its not what you like dosnt mean we are playing devil music o.o some people use it as there form of worship like the great comission who says heavy freaking worship so believe what you want but you are wrong man o.o

In this world, we need christian bands with different styles of music because everyone likes something different. Personally, I must have various forms of rock, such as crunk rock (Family Force 5), alternative rock (anberlin and House of Heroes), hard rock (red), and of course Showbread's raw rock.

@CrazyCaucasian1337 and this is comming from a person who probably has never listened (and by listened i mean actually listen and look into the lyrics and emotin) to rock or metal that is christian or God focused.... the world has perverted our veiws of right and wrong, not only are drums in the bible, but the bible says go unto all nations teaching and preaching the word (paraphrased) music is the single most powerful tool God has given to us to reach people, and we should reach with all types

@CrazyCaucasian1337 In the Old Testament people are dancing and shouting to God because they were set free from Egypt. Not only were they using loud voices, they were using tambourines, which is a form of percussion. If you want to tell us not to use even bigger forms of percussion for being set free from the bondage of sin, then I don't know what to say!

@CrazyCaucasian1337 I'm sorry but I disagree there. It's just a different type of music, it's like saying "Oh you can have semi-skimmed milk but whole milk is the devils work". Different people like different flavours. Now I listen to alot of heavy metal and I've never felt I should rebel against God. If anything, the opposite, it makes me want to stand up for God, it gives me hope. Read the lyrics to "The World is a Thorn", do they make you want to rebel against God?

God wants us to shout and scream his name. this is worship. wait drums? your kidding me, that is any and every kind of music, if anything drums is God instrument cause that keeps the beat, the tempo, and the song from falling apart.

@EagleSoarsfps Well meanwhile I don't really listen to this kind of music I see nothing wrong with it, but I do happen to listen to metalcore and some death metal. What I feel inside when listening to a band like that is indeed peace, I can actually fall asleep listening to it, and the music have encouraged me to stand up and fight for my faith and get up when I have fallen back. So music which helps me get stronger in my faith and encourages me to stand up for Jesus will never be from satan
