Please rate and comment on this video! I would really appreciate it!

Footage ~ Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children © Square Enix
Song ~ "One More Soul To The Call", by Akira Yamaoka © Konami

I think that this was probably my biggest undertaking in making a video so far. Not only is it six minutes long, the longest song I've ever worked with, but it involved a HELL of a lot of clips that I had to split up and put together; hence, the file size was MASSIVE. Again, I tried some new methods, such as adding in the voice clips at the beginning, as well as utilizing effects I don't often use. Although, it didn't really help that my movie maker kept suddenly crashing on me, and often tons of work would be lost. Very frustrating, very very frustrating.

In the end, however, I am quite pleased with the result, or otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to upload this. ^_^ While the lyrics of this song are about the game Silent Hill: Homecoming (which is a frikkin' amazing game, just so you know), they're still exceedingly fitting to Advent Children as well. Still, because of that, I tried to give this video as much of a Silent Hill feel as much as I could with Sepia Tone and the Gaussian Blur effects. In Silent Hill, a recurring theme is a nightmare world that the player transitions to and fro, which is what I tried to imitate-- I think it might've worked. Also, I made sure that EVERYONE DIES AT THE END, BWAHA. Because that's how it goes down in Silent Hill.

One final note: this AMV was greatly inspired by and modeled after ValTanner's own "One More Soul to Call" video. I'm... too lazy to put a link here now, and too shy to make it a video response, lol, but go check it out whether or not you're a Silent Hill fan! (Just be warned, it does contain spoilers.) So, ValTanner, if you ever see this vid, please know that I am in awe of your work and have no intention whatsoever to copy off of you. XD

  • I watched this when you first posted it, and loved it. I just found it again and I am struck again by what a beautiful job you did. It's awesome.

  • @FinalFirestorm Aww, thanks! :) Sadly, though you're on my friend's list, your username is only vaguely familiar to me. XD

  • i must say, you have editing skill. you're not the type to add any stylish effects and transitions. in fact, your videos are very simple, yet retain effectiveness. that is hard to find nowadays on youtube.

the song's MOOD was captured flawlessy and brilliantly. lyric-syncing was for the most part spot-on. 5/5 =)

make more videos dude. you need more fans. count me as one.

  • Anyways, thanks for all that you commented on! It's actually especially nice to know that, amid all those fancy Vegas videos, mine can still hold its own in terms of effectiveness. I do really want to be making more videos, but right now I don't have access to my preferred video program, and I don't like the one my laptop has. :( But, I hope to be making more in the future, mainly cuz it's nice to know that there are still people out there who can appreciate my work. :D

    Again, thanks a bunch!

  • @imaginary846 Don't fret about it; I don't use Youtube to talk to people really. It's Emmy from high school.

  • anytime :)

  • Whoa, YouTube failed to notify me you replied a second time. But okay! In response to your first reply, I agree totally. As much as a SV video can blow my mind, I'm more impressed with super awesome videos that were made in, say, WMM or iMovie.

And again, thanks! While the "great video" comment is always an ego stroker, I still prefer constructive criticism because I like knowing exactly what the viewer liked or didn't like. I like having specifics. ;D Thanks for the support!

  • and np dude. you deserve it. i never hesitate to reply on the actual strenghts of the video, and PARTICULAR stuff i liked about the video, instead of a "good job 5/5" type of comment. being an editor myself, i know that its always great to have someone give constructive criticism, and particular things they liked or didn't like. it helps me figure out what fans want.

like i said, count me as a fan. keep it up. ^-^

  • i apologize for the late reply.

yea i admit, sony vegas is spreading like wildfire. but thats not the bad thing. its the editing. one can make a simple video with a complex program like after effects. and in the same way, a complex video with windows movie maker.

  • I love it when I get a comment like this every once in a while. Not that I'm trying to be snobbish or anything, but it just keeps me reassured in my AMV abilities and wanting to make more. :D Especially since you're right about the lack of good, simple AMVs these days.... It's all about Sony Vegas and similar programs now. (Not that it's a bad thing, seeing you use Vegas, and it can produce stunning results, but you have to admit that it's spreading like wildfire across the AMV community.)
