6201 (46201) Princess Elizabeth on the Cumbrian Mountain Express (Liverpool Lime Street - Carnforth - Shap - Carlisle - Apppleby - Settle - Blackburn - Liverpool Lime Street) on Saturday 7th August 2010. The train is seen at Oubeck Loops, Scout Green, Langwathby and Dandry Mire Viaduct at Garsdale. This was definately not my finest hour. I was delayed by an accident on the motorway to the first location and just after I arrived Lizzie came round the corner 20 minutes early so I only managed a hand held shot of much shorter length than that planned. Unfortunately there are also several unplanned appearances of my hand and the umbrella as I strove to keep the driving rain from the lens. And finally, the only
clear shot (at Scout Green) includes the free bonus of a helicopter. I must have been very naughty in a previous life!

  • You are a hardy soul Chris, out in all weathers! Great vid - 5 stars!!

  • @NiallMS Hardy or stupid Niall? I think it's a close call between the two. Chris

  • Excellent again, Chris. But isn't it funny/peculiar? I had windy conditions and a helo at Shap (though it didn't interfere too much), and rainy conditions at Garsdale too. (I nearly filmed from that spot, looking at the viaduct, as well)! Then I had rain for the Scarborough Flyer a few days later, which ruined the shot that I was after.

  • @LMSStanier Thanks David. What a small world - if you ever see a really fat bloke behind a tripod it could be me. I'm afraid I'm very behind with watching other peoples videos but I wil ge round to them. With this weather I can hardly wait till winter. Chris

  • Those men in white coats are always available Chris, congratulations for braving such appalling conditions to bring us such memorable images...Bob

  • @robmasterman Thanks Bob. Well, if you and I both think I'm mad then there's not much hope for me. See you at the funny farm! Chris

  • @khankadet Sorry Chris, but I mis-implied that I was filming this special at the same locations as you on the day but I had come off nights so was asleep for most of the day. I did manage to get to Liverpool Lime Street later on, to film 6201 on her return there on the day.

  • @rab4472 Thanks Mike - I haven't looked at your video yet (very behind) but will be interested to compare conditions. I'm not good at panning at the best of times but with the squally winds we always get with the rain up here I find it impossible. Chris

  • @puffernutterlou Thanks Lou. Scout Green was comparatively quiet. I guess the forecast and the fact that these trips are being repeated all summer had some influence. I was hoping for another trip on the Cambrian this year but it's looking unlikely at the moment. Hope you get some good shots - I'll look out for them. Chris

  • @EMuksteam Thanks Emlyn. Typical summer weather ;o) Nothing you can do about helicopters it just happens. I'd get fed up if it happened every time though. Chris
