  • Can I ask, because I've never touched Empire or Napoleon Total War, why is Constantinople/Istanbul so small... at least compared to what it was in reality and in the Medieval II game... It looks like a fort...

  • @brownpeopleftw22

simply put sieges in ETW and NTW are crap, they all have generic forts so no matter the city etc / how large it is on the campaign map / no matter what upgrades etc ie: bigger walls or whatever it'll always look the same crappy fort or a star fort both a pretty crap tho.

that one is getting old, old bean.

It's been called Istanbul since 1453, it's called Istanbul in the game and Istanbul in real life

could you greeks and turks please switch of your proposterous exagerated nationalism button and enjoy the bleedin' vid before it drowns in a sea of 12-year old dribble.

  • hmm ok if greece controls constantinople lets call it constantinople and if the ottomans control it Istanbull its fair for both sides i think

  • @lionheartx10 ok thnax btw cool videos

  • @Dorkus89Malorkus

Spoken and written language mate. But yes its a rather pointless debate / argument etc. :) :P

  • @lionheartx10 In spoken language, yes. Even the Greeks called it Istanbul, it's short for "the city" or some crap like that in Greek. Ottoman sources used a Konstant....something for centuries.

    Anyway, who the hell cares.

  • @Dorkus89Malorkus

incorrect I'm afraid its been called Istanbul as early as the 10th Century in Arabic texts. Its been more commonly known across the world as Istanbul since the Ottoman capture of the city in 1453. The date 1914 that your referring to is when the entire world finally abandoned older names for the city, namely for the postal system and address when all became - Istanbul rather than say Constantinople. But it has been called Istanbul by much of the western world since 1453!

  • @xTheGerbilx Actually it's only been called Istanbul for since 1914 or some such, after the Turshik Republican revolution.
