The story behind "Mr. Invincible #16 - Viagra, Version Two" is simple: Phil and I were feeling annoyed by the Nevada Highway Patrol's abandonment of our traffic safety campaign, and we were emboldened by the support of our employer, Newstalk 780 KOH. So, we decided to head into the studio and create a response to all the hullabaloo that had greeted "Viagra, Version One".
Two things occur to me while listening to this spot nearly ten years later: first of all, the spot's "interruption" -which is made in a very surreal way, by us- seems very Monty Pythonesque, in that we're immediately commenting on something that had just happened (remember how those "Dear Sirs, I'm terribly offended" letters would suddenly interrupt one of their sketches?). Secondly, it kind of creeps me out that there's at least an entire generation- perhaps two, by this point- that would probably be confused by the "record scratch" sound effect; can't you just see today's youngsters not really knowing what that sound is supposed to be?
