The Masuo in the Himalayas, the Nagovisi of Bougainvillea in the South Pacific, the Khasi of Meghalaya, India, and the Machinguenga of Peru, to name a few. Won't let me put links here but message me if interested.

@Maiitreya Exactly what societies were matriarchal with primarily female leaders?
-
@SalafeeSpot There have been many well-documented matriarchal cultures throughout history. Within these cultures, women were the heads of their house holds, the dominants, and displayed more aggressive characteristics while the men where submissive to them. Considering that it's possible for either gender to take on 'male-typical' characteristics under the right social conditions, its hard to continue believing that there's any innate psychological difference between the genders.
-
@SalafeeSpot I don't know what part of the world you are from, but here in North America men and women enjoy the exact same rights and priveledges. I really don't buy the argument that men are different than women, in fact I believe that the only difference between the genders are our physical makeup. Any differences in psychology are (rightly I believe) attributed to the influence of social constructs.
-
@SalafeeSpot Just because you are a man yourself you think that all other men in the world think the same way you do? Sorry buddy but I'm not convinced.
-
@Maiitreya Men and women are created differently and are not equal in ability but are equal in status. Men feel, act, and have different priveledges than women due to our biological nature. A man who enjoys his wife being with another man needs his head to be checked.
-
@SalafeeSpot What does this have to do with pregnancy? Maybe it's about sex. And there are plenty of (sane) men in the world who can handle the thought of their wife sleeping with other men... some even enjoy this and encourage their wives to do so. On what basis do you think its natural for a woman to be okay with sharing her husband but a man not?
-
@Maiitreya More than one husband makes no sense. She can't be pregnant more than once at a time. Plus men can not handle the idea of another man being with his wife. Unless he has something wrong with him.
-
@Maiitreya It's called being a man. Plus nature

@SalafeeSpot Having as many children as possible isn't the ultimate goal for all polygamists, lol. Maybe the woman wants more than one husband because one man isn't enough to satisfy her wild sexual appetite?
The real issue here is not so much polygamy as much as people living a life-style from the Old Testament with pre-medieval values in a modern world and the use of religion to elevate men and, essentially, enslave women. What people do in their private lives to be happy really should be their own business, but there is a point when the manipulation by religion becomes abuse of the individual. This is that point.
