Don Juan by Richard Strauss, m.1-49 [v.2]

Another go. Did you know that you can barely even hear the cellos for much of this excerpt? I think Strauss wrote us a part to give us something to do while the violins and trumpets are playing fortissimo.

Great job -- very clean. Try accenting the fourth note just a bit so your rhythm is more defined for the listener. Think about keeping the intensity during the half notes; for my taste, you let go of them too quickly. Also, manipulate the bow better so you have a good ponticello at the end. Wish I could play the high part (g minor) as well as you can!

First 8 bars are most important bars of an audition. Your triplets in the 2nd bar sound labored, might make a committee knock you down quickly. Hans is badass keep working.

You have no sense of rhythm at all. Your rhythm goes all over the place. GET A METRONOME !!!
