In August of 2010, Singapore played host to the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. Together, the Singapore Red Cross and IFRC took this opportunity to foster a better understanding of humanitarian assistance as well as first aid, and how these young athletes can work with their National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society to assist in raising awareness in their own communities.

The Red Cross Red Crescent took taking part in the event's cultural and education programme. This video will give you some idea of the perspectives and surprising perception of some of the athlethes who joined with the Red Cross Red Crescent to spread the message of humanity through our humanitarian storytelling workshops.

Some 5,000 athletes and officials from the 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are attended the games, along with estimated 1,200 media representatives, 20,000 local and international volunteers, and more than 370,000 spectators.
