Previously unseen amateur footage of Marilyn Monroe which was shot in 1959 on a film set is unearthed in Australia.

The footage shows Monroe acting playfully on set with co-stars Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis.

Monroe died in August 1962 at the age of 36 from a drugs overdose.

The lot, including a CD copy and a DVD copy together with the original film, will be offered for sale by Leski Auctions in Melbourne on September 25 with a pre-sale estimate of 20,000 - 30,000 Australian dollars (17,000-25,500 U.S. dollars).

The purchaser also acquires full commercial rights.

Hayley Platt reports.

  • @LadyJadeLight I think Hugh Hefner has a huge heart also. He was kind hearted when Dorothy Stratten was murdered also. Funny how Bobby Kennedy was seen by a cop the night Marilyn died but, he claimed he was not in town. Things come back on you.

  • I'll give you .25 cents for em...

  • This was shot on the beach in front of the Coronado Hotel in southern california in early september 1958. Her husband Arthur Miller has just joined her for the shooting at the hotel.

  • @Motaro76 Please give us a link to a picture of yourself so we can see if you look better than MARILYN MONROE. Shes a legend. How dare you.

  • @PJCoan Well I think it is very important to professionally clean and scan-in the 8mm film digitally at a high resolution, so it can be preserved and viewed by anyone. The physical film reel itself remains the valuable collectors item since modern cleaning and digital scanning will do NO harm.

It's like: someone has the jewel, and we can see a good photograph of it.

  • @LadyJadeLight WHERE DID YOU GET THE INFO THAT Hugh Hefner had a 2nd Autopsy done? I have been a fan of MM and have seen all her documentaries and there was NEVER any mention of a 2nd one performed. He could not have ordered one done either. I am interested in finding out where you got that information from???

  • a Naval officer? right.........the Army and female superstars a common sight especially the stars that die in mysterious circumstances

  • @emoviebuff87 you said: why did she have to die so young? ::::::::: because she was taken from us.

Its not popular to talk about it but Hugh Heffner actually has a HUGE heart.. huge.

He financed and made sure we did a 2nd autopsy. There is no doubt now.

There is just no way that she would do what was done herself. But they cannot say homicide to THIS day because her major organs are not there. (missing). That is the key to everything, but legally you must test them too. IDK why.

  • Here Marilyn was filming "Some like it hot"
