I was trying to take video of the 2009 Perseid meteor shower. The Moon was waning but still very bright so you could not see the faint ones. The ones I could see were just out of range of where the camera was pointing or just too faint for the camera to pick up.

I saw a handful of good ones. One that was really bright and 3 that left a pretty significant light trail. I also spotted a satellite.

Then of course clouds started moving in. I was not going to sit out there for an hour with nothing to show so I played around with 'shooting the Moon'.

  • I live in rural Iowa very little light pollution. I am not sure you can see one in NYC.

You just need to get out of the city.
