First run of the Turbo K-75 Ratbike. Megasquirt ECU controlling spark and fuel. Homemade crank angle sensor.

Figured out why it was dying. The idle timing was at 30BTDC, and full advance was at 60. Fixed that and it's much happier.

  • Interesting project.

Question though, being a K75 owner myself, why did you decide to hop up a K75? Don't get me wrong, I am definitely tuning in to see the end results but Just wondering why you chose a K75? You seem to have extensive knowledge of working on motorcycles. Did you go to school if so which one? I'm considering studying to become a BMW motorcycle mechanic. Armando

  • You're right that the K-75 is an odd choice to work with. Big, heavy, and slow doesn't make for a good sportbike. :) If I was just after speed, I'd have been better off starting with a busa or similar. But it's a rock solid engine, which makes it a good candidate for a turbo. It started as a fun project that has turned into an illogical obsession. I learned about motorcycles at Austin Community College, but I'm not a certified mechanic.

  • Wow man.... that thing is gonna make for an interesting bike once it is all said and done. Do you have a wideband O2 sensor you are tuning off of or are you just planning on S.O.P. tuning?

  • It's got an LC-1 wideband sensor on it, which should help me get a rough fuel map. Once I've got that, I'm going to get it on a dyno for proper tuning. It's hard to adjust a fuel table while you're riding!
