Another great recording on Edison Blue Amberol no. 5056. The recording is from about 1924. The machine is an Edison Triumph from about 1910-1911.

  • Perfection!

    What else can I say?

  • very nice sound from your machine, and this is a really hot number. Loved it. added it to my favorites.

  • My aunt sang this as 'Red Hot Georgia Brown' ....the hottest gal in town/ Got a stove for Christmas from a man named Sam/ Had to take it and exchange it for a 'lectric fan...........

  • I'd heard before that by 1926 they were a totally different group. Amazing. I doubt much that any band today would let someone assume their identity a couple years after making some great recordings!

  • The CD is entitled "Georgia Melodians" and was released by Timeless Records. I find it disappointing that their first six releases are not included on the CD.

  • The two unreleased sides that were rejected and unissued are "I've found a new baby" and "Hangin' around," both recorded on April 7, 1926. In my estimation, the 1926 Georgia Melodians' records are not as good as the earlier ones. That may be because they were performed by another band and were released under the Georgia Melodians' name.
