  • Pius XI did not write the anti-nazi encyclicals, he signed them. "Mit Brennender Sorge" was probably written by Card. Pacelli (soon elected Pius XII).

  • Right, but in the video it talks about the disappeared encyclical, I didn't translate "they say" that means something of not sure...

  • @darsham There is a wide spread myth of an anti-nazi encyclical being supressed by Pius XII. It is based on the "Hitler's Pope" slander. In fact, we know that the popes made many anti-Nazi & anti-totalitarian statements. Both Mit Brenender Sorge & Sempe Semens (We Are All Semites) were in fact two explicitely anti-nazi encyclicals. After they were published, the Pope naturally focused on practical actions in the war years.
