I Can't Defeat Gary Oak 2.0

OP delivers, even if it's not so great.

It just occured to me that my rival is right there waiting for me
To pick a Pokemon so he can challenge me to a fight.
I never will give up, but I forgot to get the Potion from the PC
And my Pokemon's chances of winning are slight.

If I only had some items I'd be fine,
They would make it so much easier to beat my rival
But every time somehow,
Every time somehow he gets a critical hit.

I can't defeat Gary Oak.
No matter who I pick he always gets the one with an advantage to mine
And even though I can overlevel it's no use
He always shows up at the most inopportune times.
I do the best that I can,
But when I had to go against his team at half health I was helpless again.
I'll try again of course but this is my plan;
I'll keep my Max Revives saved in reserve just as long as I can.

And even though I almost beat his Dragonite
He used a Full Restore to make sure that I could never win.
I try as hard as I can,
But when I had to go against his team of Dragons I was helpless again.
I'll try again of course but this is my plan;
I'll keep my Max Revives saved in reserve just as long as I can.
