"Symphony in B-flat" Mvmnt 1 by Paul Hindemith
This is the first movement. Movements II & III are also available on my channel. This is an audio recording of the 1985-86 Trinity High School band under the direction of Tom Neugent, performed live at the 1986 UIL contest. Other pieces performed for this contest were "Florenteiner" by Fucik and "Variations and Fugue" by Giannini. You may download the entire concert in MP3 format by going to http://daryldalton.spaces.live.com/

  • There's a bump in the recording about 5:55 or so, which sort of ruined it for me. The ending is one of my favorite parts. Oh well, unfortunate events.

  • I know. When I digitized the recording, the original tape was so deteriorated that it was the last play for the original. Later when I heard the "bump," I could not replay the original. The 23 year-old recording was gone for good. I can't believe the tape lasted as long as it did. :)

  • I love this song. We're playing it in Wind Ensemble. I play French Horn and our part ROCKS! I'm modeling my IMEA composition piece after this song!

  • Holy Crap. You guys played a heck of a set for concert contest that year!
