  • Well your plan is obviously flawed. I don't think people really took into consideration that this storm was the size of Texas, literally. When the officials knock on your door and ask you to write your name and SS# on your arm so they can later identify your body.....it might just be time to quit being stubborn and leave!

  • After hearing some so-called official saying that most people who died were doing something stupid, I started thinking of how much earlier that storm surge arrived than we thought it would. Many people who were stranded may have planned to leave but the roads flooded out way before what a normal cat 2 or 3 should have done. Didn't help how local Galveston authorities downplayed Ike before he arrived. It IS a tragedy and I fear hundreds of people were probably washed out to sea.

  • i lived in huffman during this storm and it almost killed me and my famly of 4...we were in the house when the big oak tree in my backyard fell straight through the center of my house the tree was about 9 feet around, after it fell through the house me and my famly had to find a way out of the house but the house was on top of us...finally when we got out of the house we went to the neighbors house. about 30 min. later we found out that the tree had pulled up a nat. gas line we lost everything

"Sexyfemale23tx" is not and never has been a fire cheif on the Bolivar Peninsula. She is not even a member of any of the local fire departments. Please disregard her comments. Galveston County has been very helpful to the citizen and members of all the fire departments on the Bolivar Peninsulsa.
