Seems like Count Magnus Lee is referred to in the first Castlevania as "Christopher Bee". They also seem to have ripped the Alucard and Sonia storyline from Legends from this. Doris Lang even looks like Sonia. The castle's destruction with the characters present all combined makes for an ending that could be almost one of The Rondo of Blood, Castlevania 4, Symphony of the Night or Dracula's Curse, and so on, while D is actually more of a cross between Alucard and a Belmont, plus the D mythos and novels are set in a post-apocalyptic, science fiction, Spaghetti Western-esque world. I hated how Castlevania turned Anime after Castlevania IV, but it shows that part of its roots were right there. Besides that, there's also the old anime Lupin III having a lot of elements of its setting in common with CV.
Though the art of this movie is hokey and aged, and the story is sort of basic in comparison to Bloodlust, in the end I didn't like that one more than this.

  • One of my all time favorite anime. It also has one of the best endings. Always remember, Alucard is Dracula spelled backwards.

  • Amazing movie! A true cult classic. I love it.

  • era pequenino quando vi a este filme adoro emsmo infancia que nunca mais volta saudades da infancia

  • @Luigi84289 And I was sleep-deprived when i wrote my response - I wasn't trying to correct you, just wanted to point out the existence of the novels since you seemed interested in the character.

  • @Pyre I was high when I typed that. I meant animated features.

  • It really is worth noting that Alucard from Castlevania is, as a character tremendously inspired by D. There are the obvious things (Both of them are unearthly-beautiful, plus the various supernatural powers), but there are similarities in SOtN that are neat covert shoutouts too (the Jewel of Open being a blue gem on a necklace, for example, or Alucard's English VA talking the way D does, even accounting for the sub-par English VA'ing).

  • @Luigi84289 They aren't movies, but you can buy the novels that the character first appeared in, in English, off of Amazon.com

There's a TON of them though (15+), but the writing is pretty good! The plot of Bloodlust (the second Vampire Hunter D movie) is taken from book 3; "Demon Deathchase".

  • shit l never realized that

  • I wish they would have made more movies showing the adventures of Vampire Killer D.

  • That was very euphoric, its too bad animes aren't this good anymore. Well samurai champloo and others were amazing but its just something about animes like D or ninja scroll etc that isn't in anime anymore

  • these old 80's animes remind me of my childhood in Honduras.

a far more innocent time when I wasn't exposed to evil.....
